Proverbs Post #25-<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Today I was reading in chapter 22, and verse 18 jumped out to me today.\u00a0 It says:<\/span><\/p>\n

22:18<\/strong> For it is pleasing if you keep these sayings within you,<\/span><\/address>\n
and they are ready on your lips.<\/span><\/address>\n


\n<\/span><\/p>\n

As parents, we have the opportunity but more importantly the responsibility, to teach our children biblical truth.\u00a0 If you do not know, my specific bent, is teaching children biblical financial principles.\u00a0 This is primarily due to my training and background but God had opened my eyes to why money is so important.<\/span><\/p>\n

Money is not<\/em> just cash as we think of today. Money or mammon<\/em> in the Old Testament was any and every possession, not just gold<\/em> or silver<\/em>. Try to think of a single incident in our daily life where we do not use some type of possession to interact with others. Let me give you an example of the first 60-90 minutes of your day.\u00a0 When we wake up we get out of a bed, we have clothing on our bodies (hopefully), we get food to eat, we shower, we get in a vehicle or pay to ride public transportation to the destination where we make the money to pay for everything we have!<\/span><\/p>\n

Did you ever wonder why there are over 2300 verses in the Bible regarding money or possessions?\u00a0 I think, because of what I just mentioned about everything being money or a representation of money, we cannot escape the impact it has on us.<\/span><\/p>\n

I want to leave this thought with you.\u00a0 I think Proverbs 22:18 is referring to the admonishment parents are given in Deuteronomy.\u00a0 Chapter 6 verses 6-9 give us God’s expectation of our parenting responsibilities.<\/span><\/p>\n

6:6 These words I am commanding you today must be kept in mind, 6:7 and you must teach them to your children and speak of them as you sit in your house, as you walk along the road, as you lie down, and as you get up. 6:8 You should tie them as a reminder on your forearm and fasten them as symbols on your forehead. 6:9 Inscribe them on the doorframes of your houses and gates.<\/span><\/p>\n

Will you teach your child(ren) to be a godly man or woman?<\/span><\/p>\n

I want to challenge you to take up reading the Proverb of the day and the entire chapter as well.\u00a0 Lord, please help each one of us to keep our focus on things above and not the things of this earth.\u00a0 Amen.<\/span><\/p>\n
